NGOs are invited to submit the project concepts to the GEF Small Grants Programme
Governmental and community organizations are invited to submit project concepts for GEF Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP) throughout the year.
Global Environment Fund (GEF) was created to support the sustainable development countries, promoting the achievement of environmental benefits in any development initiatives. GEF's major concern is to protect the natural environment.
The Small Grants Programme (SGP) aims to directly support non-governmental organizations and the community in their efforts to contribute to sustainable development of the communities where they operate.
THE PROJECT CONCEPT
Do you have a project idea but do not know if this is in the line with the GEF SGP's goal and objectives. does it propose an approach similar to the program or is linked to the GEF SGP National Strategy?
By submitting a project concept, you can "check out" these issues, giving us the opportunity to read and respond to your project proposal before actually submitting an application. Thus, the project will greatly improve and application will meet all eligibility criteria.
The concept paper is a preliminary presentation of the project idea an organization wants to develop. It can be submitted in Romanian and can address at least one of the five GEF's areas of interest:
- Biodiversity;
- Climate change;
- International waters;
- Persistent organic pollutants (POPs);
- Land degradation.;
- Capacity building.
The concept of the project should include:
1. Homepage - general information about the applicant's organization and the proposed project. It is recommended to mention the submission date.
2. Narrative description - maximum two pages, as follows:
- Brief description of the environmental problem, desired to be solved within the project implementation;
- Short description of the area / zone of the project's implementation;
- Define project scope;
- Define project objectives;
- Brief description of the main activities;
- Explanation of how the project fits the priorities of the GEF SGP (basic thematic areas, operational programs, geographical areas defined in the strategy GEF SGP, reducing poverty and increasing local capacity);
- Brief description of the groups involved: the list of all groups involved, their role in implementing the project and local community participation in the project, with emphasis on women and youth;
- Short description of the expected results.
3. Eligibility documents: copy of registration certificate of the organization, the statute.
OPERATIONAL DETAILS
Approval of the project concept is not necessarily leading to the approval of the project proposal developed based on that project concept! The project proposal developed competes in the application and evaluation sessions launched by the GEF SGP annually.
Project concepts are not mandatory! An applicant can directly send the project proposal to the GEF SGP session after launching the application, and can evaluated without going through the stage of project concept.
