Financing opportunities
In order to prove the project support locally and the results sustainability, the project should ensure a co-financing, for at least 50% from the total amount of the project. The co-financing can be done monetary and in kind (NGO’s own contribution, and/or its partner’s, other donors, mayors, private sector, etc.). 50% should be in kind and 50% should be monetary from the total co-financing.
In searching the co-financing of the project, kindly use some of the following information sources:
- The Co-financing potential. Annex no 2 of the Country Programme Strategy of the SGP.
- The platform managing the external source. The platform is offering information regarding all the external assistance projects implemented in Republic of Moldova. This tool helps to identify the projects that are being implemented in your locality, and respectively to create partnerships for the project’s co-financing.
- The webpage of the Social Investment Fund (SIFM), Reports section is listing the contracts that have been signed regarding the implementation of social projects. The reports include information regarding the locality, contract amount and entity that is implementing the project. Knowing these information, you can create a partnership for the project’s co-financing with the representatives of the social object where the SIFM project is implemented.
- Embassy of Japan’s Assistance Kusanone Grants Program. The list of ongoing projects, with information regarding the invested amount is presented on the webpage of Kusanone program.
- Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova – the Information Center for Local Authorities. The main objective of the Representative office is to support the democracy and local development. The Information Center is supporting the local initiatives that are implemented by the citizens, LPAs, NGOs, initiative groups and local leaders. The Center is announcing calls of proposals annually.
- The support of Austrian Development Agency

- The support of Sweden Embassy
- The support of USA Embassy. The US Embassy is launching call for proposals annually, for NGOs.
Note: Do not hesitate to submit project proposals that target related thematic of the GEF Small Grants Programme and interest areas of concerned embassies. For example, with the environmental government projects you can apply for environmental grants, as well as democracy promoting grants.
- The support of Slovak Embassy. Annually, the embassy is launching call for proposals for small grants in water supply, sanitation and solid waste management.
- The support of Canada Embassy

- Finland’s Assistance is offering grants annually.
- Visegrad Fund. The foundations is offering small and strategic grants. The call is launched quarterly
